Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Technician (Rehab)
Under direct supervision, is responsible for the fabrication and repair of orthoses or prostheses under the direction of the supervisor and/or practitioner.
- Responsible for the fabrication of orthoses and prostheses; including pouring molds, rectifying positive models, CAD/CAM operation, thermoforming, laminating, contouring, sewing, gluing, soldering, welding, riveting, assembling, repairing, and refurbishing orthotic and prosthetic devices.
- Performs ordering and receiving of materials and supplies in order to maintain the inventory of items used during the fabrication process..
- Responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and use of laboratory machines and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Provides education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for medical devices and products as indicated by the physician instructions and manufacturer's recommendations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Experience with textiles, composites, material properties and filling casts, vacuum forming or laminating, establishing initial trims and other functions.
- Working knowledge of mechanical devices and processes.
- Good eye hand coordination, dexterity and moderate mechanical skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
