The City of Birmingham is seeking a well-qualified Parking Enforcement Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the City's parking enforcement program. This position supervises Parking Enforcement Officers, ensures compliance with parking regulations and departmental policies, responds to citizen concerns and citation disputes, and promotes positive community relations. The supervisor also monitors operational performance, conducts parking studies, maintains equipment and supplies, and prepares reports to evaluate program effectiveness. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, sound judgment, and excellent customer service skills to maintain efficient and professional parking enforcement services.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications required for employment consideration for this position.
Driver's License
Experience leading employees in a work setting.
Experience using software applications to compile and report data in a work setting.
Experience enforcing city/local codes or ordinances.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Completes daily, monthly, and yearly documentation by gathering reports from Parking Enforcement Officers, maintaining records, completing various reports, and submitting reports/notifying appropriate personnel or department when necessary.
Addresses citizen complaints and/or concerns regarding citation disputes and broken/inaccurate meters by receiving complaints, conducting investigations, interpreting parking ordinances, providing recommended resolutions, and completing documentation.
Oversees and directs the parking enforcement office by providing Parking Enforcement Officers (PEO) with information, handling issues, and receiving and fulfilling parking requests.
Performs duties associated with parking enforcement by patrolling assigned area, identifying parking violations, and issuing parking citations.
Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training.
Completes reports and documentation to document and report daily activities and report damaged or missing equipment, meters, and signs to notify appropriate person/department.
Strategizes with businesses and other departments (e.g., police department) to minimize parking issues, particularly for special events (e.g., Alabama Theatre events).
Appears in court to testify regarding contested parking citations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job involves moderate physical exertion for sustained periods of physical activity such as walking or standing. May involve occasional light lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in both indoor office settings as well as outdoor environments in and around roadways. Work involves the use of standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone) and hand-held devices used to issue and document parking violations. May be exposed to inclement weather and dangerous conditions such as working around traffic.EEO STATEMENT:
