Part Time - Men's Tennis - Head Coach

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Altoona, a public related institution invites candidates for the job of Head Men’s Tennis Coach (part-time). Reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the management of all aspects of the men’s tennis program.

Job Duties

Duties include, but will not be limited to:

  • Game coaching
  • Recruitment of student athletes
  • Scheduling
  • Practice Sessions
  • Team travel
  • Supporting student-athletes
  • Supervision of assistant coaches

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ability to physically demonstrate complex movements and skills on the practice field required.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated success in a soccer program at the college or an equivalently high level, including evidence of successful student retention and team success.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate and develop Division III student-athletes, knowledge of the sport and a verifiable ability to teach both fundamentals and strategies of the game is necessary.
  • This person must possess a working knowledge of NCAA rules, a commitment to high academic standards, and the NCAA Division III philosophy. A successful candidate will have a reputation for integrity.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Penn State Altoona a member of the NCAA Division III, and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) . Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the vacancy is filled. This is a part-time opening.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
