Position Overview
The Parts Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and scaling AVE‑PLP’s parts delivery and logistics operations across multiple locations. This role owns the day‑to‑day execution and continuous improvement of parts transportation, including leadership of delivery drivers, routing and dispatch, fleet utilization, inter‑store parts transfers, and pallet return logistics.
The Parts Logistics Manager serves as the operational owner of delivery systems, processes, and performance metrics, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost‑effective movement of parts while supporting excellent customer service and internal store efficiency. This position partners closely with the Parts Operations Manager, branch leadership, and logistics stakeholders to standardize processes, optimize capacity, and support growth of the parts delivery program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Logistics & Delivery Operations
- Lead and manage day‑to‑day parts delivery and logistics operations across all supported locations.
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch daily deliveries to meet defined service levels, cut‑off times, and customer expectations.
- Build, optimize, and adjust delivery routes to maximize efficiency, capacity utilization, and on‑time performance.
- Monitor real‑time delivery execution, exceptions, and service issues; take corrective action as needed to maintain reliability.
- Coordinate closely with Parts, Service, Sales, and location leadership to align delivery priorities and operational needs.
Driver Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, schedule, and supervise all parts delivery drivers, including maintaining a roster of trained backup drivers.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and coach delivery drivers to ensure consistent performance, safety, and professionalism.
- Establish clear expectations for productivity, route execution, customer service, and policy compliance.
- Conduct ongoing performance management using delivery data, metrics, and operational feedback.
Fleet & Vehicle Management
- Oversee the readiness, safety, maintenance, and utilization of all delivery vehicles.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and compliance to minimize downtime and protect delivery capacity.
- Track vehicle usage, mileage, and maintenance needs in partnership with internal teams and external vendors.
Inter‑Store Transfers & Pallet Logistics
- Own inter‑store parts transfer operations, including scheduling, routing, and supervision of transfer drivers and vehicles.
- Manage pallet consolidation, returns, and related logistics programs, including coordination with John Deere and internal locations.
- Ensure standardized execution of transfer and return processes across the organization.
Systems Ownership & Process Improvement
- Serve as the operational owner of delivery and routing systems, including configuration, usage standards, and user compliance.
- Ensure consistent system adoption and accurate data capture across drivers and locations.
- Analyze performance trends and identify opportunities to improve delivery speed, reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with the Parts Operations Manager on scaling routes, driver capacity, fleet needs, and logistics processes as volume grows.
Reporting & Communication
- Track, analyze, and report key logistics and delivery performance metrics such as on‑time delivery, route efficiency, driver utilization, and exceptions.
- Communicate operational risks, capacity constraints, and service issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide insights and recommendations to leadership based on data, operational performance, and field feedback.
Supervisory Duties:
- Parts Delivery Drivers
