Pastoral Team Staff (Church School - Children)
The Church School is a ministry to children and youth to make disciples of Christ who in turn go and make other disciples of Christ.
In this role, the Pastoral Team Staff (Church School - Children) will work closely with the Pastor, Connect Pillar, relevant committees and volunteers to plan, coordinate, and implement church-school programmes and activities. This role supports the growth and effectiveness of the Children’s Ministry in alignment with BRMC’s vision and direction.
Main Duties And Responsibilities:
1. Spiritual Nurture
- Organize devotions, bible studies etc. and other aspects of spiritual formation to Church School teachers.
- Initiate and organize training and development for Church School teachers.
- Develop the training curriculum for Church School.
- Organize prayer and fellowship meetings.
- Initiate opportunities to provide support (pastoral care & counselling) to Church School teachers in their spiritual journey.
- Walk along and disciple the children in their spiritual journey.
2. Planning & Organizing
- Assist the Committee or be responsible (whenever called upon) in planning, organizing and the smooth running of Church School activities.
- Recommend and implement strategies to attract, engage, inspire, and retain Church School participation.
- Develop effective strategies to engage parents to raise awareness of the Church School as well as their participation in the ministry.
- Ensure that all such activities are relevant in meeting the needs and objectives of the Church School in the prevailing environment.
- Ensure that all activities are aligned to the church calendar of events and where there are conflicts, to recommend alternatives to resolve such conflicts.
3. Pastors’ Office representative
- Act as the point of liaison between the Ministry Committee and the Pastor’s Office.
- Assess and monitor the overall state of the ministry and provide feedback/updates to the Pastor’s Office.
Others:
Carry out additional responsibilities when assigned by the Pastor-in-Charge and/or the pastor overseeing the area of ministry.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Theology, Divinity, or other relevant theological training.
- At least 2 years relevant ministry experience serving in Christian Education or Children Ministry in a church or parachurch setting.
- Able to reach, teach, engage, and build good rapport with children and parents.
- Able to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, volunteers, and parents.
- An innovative team player, self-motivated, and pro-active.
- Willingness to work on non-traditional schedules which includes evenings and weekends, with the flexibility to get time off on a weekday.
