Sheridan Community Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our front-line registration team.

- Ensure accurate and timely patient registration
- Verify insurance to prevent billing delays
- Support smooth patient flow across departments

Patient Access Specialist Responsibilities
- Greet patients in person and by phone with professionalism and compassion
- Answer multi-line phones and direct calls appropriately
- Register patients accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Collect payments and explain financial responsibilities
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations
- Assist with registration for Emergency, Outpatient, Lab, Imaging, and other services
- Distribute and process required forms and documentation
- Provide directions and support to patients and visitors
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous customer service experience required
- Healthcare or clinical experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Ability to learn and navigate EHR systems
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Typing proficiency (minimum 50 WPM and high accuracy)
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and adaptable
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment
