Patient Care Technician I, Full Time - 8am-4pm, Gastroenterology, Summit
Principal Accountabilities:
- Conduct patient interviews; and obtain and document vital signs, weights, and heights.
- Support clinic visits (walk-in and scheduled) by verifying patient information, accurately recording clinical data, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Assist patients with mobility, including ambulation and transfers, and guide them through the care process to ensure timely arrival to scheduled appointments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, vital signs, and clinical observations.
- Perform clinical procedures, including EKGs and phlebotomy, while maintaining related equipment and inventory.
- Observe, monitor, and report changes in patient condition to the RN in a timely manner.
- Provide emotional support to patients in alignment with the established plan of care.
- Demonstrate professionalism at all times, with strong communication skills, active listening, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a strong work ethic.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. HS Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
1. Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
2. Patient, compassionate nature
3. Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses
4. Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
