Patient Care Technician - Medical (PCT)

Job Overview

As a PCT on the Medical Unit, you’ll support nurses in caring for patients with new‑onset and chronic medical conditions, including cardiac, stroke, oncology, and post‑procedure patients who require close monitoring. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide compassionate bedside care — including support for patients nearing the end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure patients receive safe, high‑quality care.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
  • Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers
  • Monitor and record vital signs
  • Document patient information accurately
  • This role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations
  • Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

About the Medical Unit

The Medical Unit is a fast‑paced 29‑bed department caring for patients with new‑onset and chronic medical conditions. With telemetry monitoring, post‑procedure recovery, and strong teamwork, the unit offers an excellent foundation for building clinical skills.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
