Patient Care Technician - Post Surgical (PCT)
Job Overview
As a PCT on the Post‑Surgical Unit, you’ll support nurses in caring for patients recovering from orthopedic, general, urology, bariatric, gynecology, and other surgical procedures. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide compassionate care during early recovery. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to support patients physically and emotionally after surgery.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens
- Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers
- Monitor and record vital signs
- Document patient information accurately
- This role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations
- Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
About the Post‑Surgical Unit
The Post‑Surgical Unit is a 22‑bed department caring for patients recovering from orthopedic, general surgery, urology, bariatric, gynecology, plastic, and oral/maxillofacial procedures. The team works closely with surgeons, therapy services, dietitians, and wound care specialists to support physical, mental, and emotional recovery after surgery.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
