Position Purpose:
The Specialist - Payroll is responsible for committing the company on a per payroll basis to accurate Employee Payments, with each individual payment being of great significance to the employee and the aggregate totaling a significant financial impact on the company. The Payroll Analyst is also responsible for calculating, reviewing, verifying and posting complex payroll and time and attendance data into an automated system; generating and reviewing a variety of automated reports on a routine basis, detecting and responding to due dates, errors, and discrepancies. The position involves independently managing payroll processes to include preparation, reconciliation and problem-solving. Specific responsibilities include verifying time, processing payrolls, completing tax reconciliations and auditing business processes and controls. This role requires strong knowledge of Colombian payroll legislation, monthly payroll execution, annual payroll processes, social security contributions, tax withholdings, and statutory compliance. The Payroll Specialist is expected to ensure payroll accuracy, confidentiality, and timely execution while supporting internal stakeholders and maintaining compliance with local labor regulations.
Job Requirements:
• Responsible for carrying out the major assignments of Employee Payments and Payroll
• Reconciliation which are greatly significant to the operations of the business
• Responsible for the preparation, validation, and processing of payroll cycles in compliance with Colombian payroll regulations, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments.
• Process payroll adjustments such as retros, benefit adjustments, referral bonus, incentive awards, commissions, and headset refunds.
• Manage payroll novelties including overtime, leaves, absences, bonuses, commissions, and salary adjustments.
• Review and validate payroll inputs to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
• Generate payroll reports and support internal audits when required.
• Identify discrepancies and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely manner.
• Process stop payments, direct deposit reversals and direct deposit returns
• Provides assistance to HR associates on a daily basis
• Responsible for the administration and reporting of unclaimed checks
• Validate, process, and fund off cycle manual checks
• Perform payroll tax reconciliations, statutory reporting, and annual payroll closing processes in accordance with Colombian labor and tax regulations.
• Provide a high level of customer service-assisting staff and any other internal/external customers
• Ensure compliance with Colombian labor laws, payroll regulations, tax requirements, and statutory obligations.
• Serve as primary back-up for Payroll Supervisor, with ability to execute payroll in Supervisor’s absence
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience
• 3 years of relevant Payroll experience with an automated HR/Benefits system
• Strong accounting and reconciliation skills such as the ability to prepare and interpret financial statements which includes reconciliations, balance sheets, operating statements and other financial reports required as is the ability to apply sound, independent judgment to solve problems and/or administer programs required
• Strong knowledge of Colombian payroll legislation, tax regulations, social security contributions, and statutory payroll requirements.
• Knowledge of accounting and financial processes and procedures
• Knowledge of office and accounting software
• Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, reporting, and data validation).
• Experience working with payroll systems or HRIS platforms.
• Ability to compile, review, categorize, prioritize, analyze and interpret data and information
• Ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to assigned duties
• Ability to provide guidance, assistance and/or interpretation to others
• Strong interpersonal & organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential payroll information.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict payroll deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Work Arrangement:
• This is a fully on-site role based in Bogotá, Colombia.
