Job Description:

As a People Consultant, you’ll play a key role in driving high‑impact initiatives across the People (HR) organization—bringing both strategy and execution together to move priorities forward. You’ll partner closely with Leaders and stakeholders to plan, manage, and deliver a wide range of projects, from targeted process improvements to complex, multi‑faceted initiatives. With a strong project management mindset, you’ll balance multiple priorities, establish clear governance, and ensure work stays aligned to business goals and timelines.

This role goes beyond coordination—you’ll think ahead to outcomes, define success metrics early, and use data to tell clear, compelling stories that guide decision‑making. By developing communications, preparing Leadership materials, and translating complex work into simple, meaningful updates, you’ll help create alignment and momentum across Teams. Through a mix of analytical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, you’ll help shape programs that improve how Southwest supports its Employees while building a strong, consistent experience across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with various Customers to identify requirements while understanding changes to business processes and procedures, and help with the implementation and delivery of the initiatives
  • Prepare Leaders with data, background information, talking points, education, and visual materials when presenting to executives, internal stakeholders, and external partners
  • Partner closely with the People Strategy & Planning and Standards functions assigned to support the various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment, prioritization and proactively identify and resolve problems
  • Consolidate weekly reports updates from Leaders and ensure the most relevant info is shared with senior Leaders
  • Plan and execute large-scale meetings in alignment with Leadership expectations and priorities
  • Partner with Senior Leadership across the People pillar to lead various activities required in the ongoing development and delivery of strategic initiatives
  • Manage priorities across multiple areas and advise on timely content and channel plans that meet or exceed objectives and deliver measurable business results
  • Manage annual budget to ensure effective utilization of fiscal resources and partner with FP&A to report inaccuracies or make corrections to the budget
  • Ensure timely communication to inspire and inform Employees about cultural events, programs, and initiatives
  • Collaborate with and contribute to Corporate Communications initiatives and efforts to apply a consistent brand voice, deliver a thoughtful narrative to our employees (and prospective employees), and cultivate a culture of gratitude
  • Partner with department pillars to analyze, develop, and maintain department Companywide survey results and action plan
  • Collaborate with People Strategy & Planning team to develop monthly department newsletter and manage the communication tracker
  • Establish project governance for pillar initiatives, monitor project milestones deliverables, and assist with implementation plan and execution
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
  • Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Skilled in bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences
  • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to tell or recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
  • Ability to produce unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Consulting
    • Strategic planning
    • Analytics
    • Leading cross functional projects
    • Human Resources
  • Preferred: Experience using Excel to translate metrics into insights
  • Preferred: Experience creating PowerPoint presentations

Licensing/Certification
  • N/A

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

  • Competitive market salary from $103,750 per year to $115,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
