The Policy and Te Tiriti | He Pou Rarama branch drives strategic leadership across a wide range of policy areas.
Legal Service, Ngā Ratonga Ture is an in-house team of lawyers and privacy / OIA experts, headed up by our Chief Legal Advisor. We offer legal and privacy advice and assistance to business groups across the department, providing legal and privacy expertise on a wide range of issues. We also identify and advise on departmental legal risk, providing strategic advice and assurance to the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and business owners.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide personal and confidential secretarial support for our Chief Legal Advisor and General Manager Policy.
We are looking for a switched-on individual who can see the big picture, connect information quickly, exercise sound judgment in fast-moving situations, and ensure that the Chief Legal Advisor and General Manager are well prepared for their meetings and other diary commitments.
You will be communicating with a wide range of people across DIA and other agencies and organisations across the country. Highly organised, you will support the workflow requirements of the team and ensure relevant papers are prepared and ready in advance of meetings while adapting to changing priorities.
The appointing range for this role is $61,000 - $76,000.
What you bring | Nōu te rourou
- Proven success providing Personal Assistant or Senior Administrative support to a Senior Leader/s, preferably within the public sector.
- Confidence working with MS office programmes
- Ability to prioritise workloads and negotiate deadlines in the face of competing demands.
- Well-developed relationship-building skills and the ability to communicate with senior stakeholders.
- Experience in managing invoices ensuring expenses are tracked and managed within budget.
- Solid written communication skills, having had experience producing meeting papers, agenda, minutes and action tracking.
