DETAILS OF POSITION
Location: Santa Maria, CA / Full Time Position / Workdays: Monday - Friday / Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm / Hourly Rate: $17.40
Position Summary
This position provides personal care and support services to individuals served, promoting dignity, independence, and meaningful participation in daily activities within a structured program environment.
Essential Functions

Personal Care & Daily Living Support
- Provides personal care support including mobility, transfers and personal hygiene needs while promoting dignity and independence.
- Supports individuals with meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines.
Day Services & Activity Support
- Assists with and facilitates therapeutic, recreational, and social activities.
- Ensures continuity of scheduled activities in the absence of supervisory staff.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Monitors individuals for health and safety concerns and responds appropriately to emergencies.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation including daily activity records and incident reports.
- Recognizes and reports suspected abuse, neglect, or unusual incidents in accordance with mandated reporting requirements and organizational policy.
Behavioral Support
- Implements individualized behavior support strategies in accordance with approved behavior plans and organizational protocols.
Environment & Operations
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
Team Collaboration
- Works collaboratively with team members to support individual service plans and outcomes.
- Collaborates with DSP-Teaching staff as needed.
Professional Boundaries:
- Maintains appropriate professional boundaries with individuals served.

QUALIFICATIONS include the following. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.
Education/Experience: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. No prior experience required.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions in English. Communicate clearly using basic verbal and written skills. Maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and management. Interact professionally and diplomatically with the public. Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
Technical/Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and use agency-specific systems. Demonstrates basic computer literacy, including data entry, email communication, and navigation of electronic record systems.
Professional Skills & Abilities:
- Perform effectively in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
- Apply common sense reasoning to follow instructions and make decisions.
- Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
- Maintain First Aid, CPR, and CPI certifications.
Other Skills & Abilities:
- Meet and maintain Community Care Licensing criminal history requirements.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all individuals and services information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to ensure continuity of care and services.
