Pharmacy Technician
SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Technician will work under the direct supervision of the Gracelight Community Health (“Gracelight”) Pharmacist in the health center pharmacy to process, prepare and sell prescriptions to customers. This individual will also provide support for other aspects of the pharmacy operations under the scope of a Pharmacy Technician licensure.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing prescriptions as ordered by Gracelight’s providers, using pharmacy management software, including trouble shooting prescriptions when errors or issues are suspected.
- Retrieving patient information in Gracelight’s electronic health record for the purpose of maintaining patient profiles, requesting medication refills, or messaging clinicians with medication related questions.
- Performs if an error occurs appropriate prevention steps as indicated by licensed pharmacist and double-checking all medication prepared against the original medication order in order to ensure patient safety.
- Prepares any order except controlled substances.
- Answering telephone calls and assisting patients and/or other callers or being able to direct the calls to the appropriate staff.
- Communicating professionally and respectfully with other clinic staff and clinicians when questions arise on the medication orders or other. Communicating with all patients professionally and respectfully with the intent of assisting patients.
- Maintaining organized and clean work areas, equipment, etc.
- Processing patient applications for Patient Assistance Program requests
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Under direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, may perform packaging, manipulative, repetitive, and other non-discretionary tasks, including removing drugs from stock, counting, pouring, or mixing pharmaceutical.
- Assisting with procurement and inventory management including but not limited to: verifying shipments received and stocking shelves, organizing inventory and alerting pharmacists to any shortages
