Job Description

The Physical Security Lead (PSL) works within the larger Global Corporate Security and Investigations team to oversee the physical security program for a complex 24/7 operation center located in the Chennai region. The PSL ensures a safe and secure operating environment for company employees, protects company assets, and serves as the local subject manner expert in safety and security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and direction to contract security staff.
  • Ensure employee transportation program includes security in accordance with local regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with technology teams and vendors to ensure appropriate electronic security equipment placement, repair, and maintenance.
  • Respond to physical security incidents. Properly document actions taken and identify opportunities to mitigate risks.
  • Liaison and build strong working relationships with local law enforcement and peer corporate security organizations.
  • Conduct security risk assessments.
  • Attend meetings, develop presentations, and speak to employees about safety and security related questions or concerns.
  • Escalate security risks or incidents that threaten employee safety or business operations to senior management.
  • Aid other corporate security teams (access control, intelligence, security control center) with information and tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating security plans for executive visits.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically, more than three years of applicable experience.
  • Fluent verbal and written communication in both English and Hindi/Tamil languages.
  • Must be willing to work first or second shift and remain available for after-hours on-call responsibilities.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong understanding of local laws and regulations on employer safety and security responsibilities.
  • Post secondary education related to law enforcement, security management, risk management or related areas.
  • Hands-on experience with physical security technologies and guard force operations.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging law enforcement for partnerships/investigations.
  • Experience working with multiple organizational levels, cross-functional business lines, and with a geographically disbursed team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in times of crisis and during incidents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret intelligence and information sharing, and incorporate that information into project planning, incident response, and related physical security initiatives.
  • Certified Protection Processional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Associate Protection Professional (APP), or similar industry certification preferred.
  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
