Physician (Endocrinology)

The North Florida/ South Georgia VA Healthcare System's Specialty Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic board-certified Endocrinologist. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center.

This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting A summary of the duties is mentioned below but not limited to: Patient care and supervision of Endocrinology fellows in the outpatient clinic and on the inpatient consult rotation, and performance of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirate (FNA) thyroid biopsies as needed. Treating patients with endocrine diseases. Common disorders are: thyroid abnormalities, diabetes, hypertension, infertility, cholesterol disorders, and endocrine neoplasias. Analyzing, examining, and investigating patients and their medical histories for signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalances. Discussing diagnose with patients, explaining treatment options, and giving advice on medications, lifestyle and dietary changes, and other preventative measures. Carrying out follow-up appointments, monitoring patient progress, adjusting treatment plans and medications, and updating patient records. Conducting research and studies on the endocrine system and its diseases, disorders, and conditions to develop new treatment techniques. Supporting patients with serious or complex endocrine conditions and their loved ones. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (These work hours are subject to change depending on inpatient call, and the outpatient needs of a Veteran.)
