Physician (Hematology and Oncology Program Manager)
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Section of Hematology and Oncology at the Salisbury VA HealthCare Center (SVA HCS) seeks a physician leader with training and expertise in adult Hematology and Oncology to assist with overseeing operations across our three sites of care: Salisbury, Charlotte, and Kernersville.The Program Manager will help support the Section Chief and the administrative responsibilities and management of clinical operations and programs. This will be in addition to his/her primary clinical responsibilities. The primary administrative responsibilities of the Program Manager are listed below. The Program Manager will serve as the Director for Infusion Services. He/She will be responsible and accountable for assuring the provision of comprehensive infusion that includes both oncology and general infusion services. These services will follow established policies within the Department of Medicine/Hematology and Oncology Section. In addition, he/she is responsible/accountable for development of standardized processes and policies for infusion across all three sites of care, Salisbury VAMC and the two HCCs. He/She will work closely with nursing and administrative teams involved in providing infusion oversight. The Program Manager is responsible and accountable for assuring supervision of the oncology navigation core. Nurse navigators will report directly to the Program Manager, and patient centered process will be developed and executed within the core. The program manager will provide the required nursing reviews. Within the core, the Program Manager will be responsible and accountable for the quality of navigation performed and documented by the navigators, along with the assurances that the appropriate work load credit is secured and reported. The Program Manager will serve as Acting Chief of Hematology and Oncology when the Section Chief is on approved leave. The Program Manager will provide support to assigned tasks provided by the ACOS of Medicine and/or Section Chief of Hematology and Oncology. The Program Manager will lead quality improvement initiatives of the section, research, and general infusion. In addition to compliance with national and local regulatory, policy, and accreditation requirements governing this health care system, this position encompasses the following responsibilities in partnership with he/her Administrative Officer and the support of section chiefs and supervisors. The incumbent requires appropriate time mapping and resources to ensure that they are empowered to meet expected proficiencies in administration, clinical practice and research. Provide support and assist the section chief with strategic and operational leadership for Hematology & Oncology across Salisbury, Charlotte, and Kernersville. Serve in the capacity of the Acting section chief when needed. Oversee outpatient and inpatient consult services in a multispecialty environment, supported by experienced clinical and research staff. Assist the section chief with leading a team with 15 provider FTEs, plus comprehensive ancillary support. Supervise trainees and foster a culture of high-quality outcomes, continuous improvement, and scholarly activity. Advance education and research as a full-time clinician-educator-research faculty member with flexible protected time for academic pursuits.
