Physician - Hematology/Oncology
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. "This Position is being advertised as an Intermittent Position. Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance." This board-certified Hematologist/Oncologist will be treating patients with general hematologic and neoplastic diseases. This is a primary clinical position, work activities may involve: preparing and interpreting blood and bone marrow samples analyzing blood samples using computer-aided and manual techniques reviewing initial data that may reveal abnormalities in white or red blood cells, platelets or clotting factors deciding on additional hematologic testing prescribing treatment for individual patients assisting colleagues in the interpretation of hematologic test results selecting appropriate techniques for different types of hematological analysis working as part of a multidisciplinary team that may include bone marrow transplantation specialists, hematologic subspecialists, or hematopathologists teaching or training medical students, residents and other hospital staff providing education and counseling to patients maintaining accurate and detailed records.
