Physician (Hospitalist) Nocturnist

The Physician will manage patients with ongoing medical conditions as an inpatient, in collaboration with other services of the CGVAMC. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Current BLS required / ACLS desirable Interviews, examines, selects diagnostic testing appropriately, and interprets/collates results to coordinate patient care. Communicates and documents with clarity to patients and medical personnel to coordinate patient care. APP coordination within the Hospitalist section. Procedural skills may include: Arterial puncture, EKG interpretation, Arthrocentesis, Foley catheter insertion, Abdominal paracentesis Venipuncture, Nasogastric tube insertion, Lumbar puncture, Thoracentesis Intra-arterial line & central venous line placement Endotracheal intubation Shares after-hour call responsibilities with section physicians in rotation. Consulting on inpatient care. Collaboration with midlevel providers and physician colleagues with clear communication and documentation Performs the administrative components of patient care management: Participate in educational programs for section personnel as well as the medical staff. Participate in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care at both the Section and facility levels. Engage in miscellaneous activities of the Medical Service, inclusive of special projects that enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Attend Hospitalist team meetings. Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model at all organizational levels. Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Attend Medicine Service monthly staff meetings and Chief of Staff (COS) quarterly meetings as per bylaws. Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Medicine or designee (e.g., Administrative Officer). Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities and VA continuing educational activities. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for Highly Qualified Applicants.
