Physician - Primary Care Section Chief

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP),a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount(up to $200,000)& eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. The Section Chief is accountable for the coordination and oversight of clinical and administrative activities in the staff and patient care. The physician will be responsible for delivery of primary care to patients enrolled in the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) Major Duties/Responsibilities to include but are not limited to: Directs and supervises clinical activities of the Primary Care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Oversees the work performed by Primary Care nurse practitioners. Completes annual proficiency evaluations for the Primary Care physicians and physician assistants. Responsible for performance improvement activities in the clinic. Incorporates provider specific performance improvement data with appraisals. Provides care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients being served, and which is appropriate to the cognitive; emotional, and chronological maturation of the patient. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer and the Veteran constructively and appropriately. Work Schedule: Determined by Supervisor
