Physician-Psychiatrist

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders. Modalities for patient care for the virtual positions will be through telehealth with limited phone calls as clinically appropriate. Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education. Maintains appropriate licensing and board certifications as applicable. Participates effectively in team meetings and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care. Functioning as part of an interdisciplinary care team working with other physicians, PA's, APN's, social workers, psychologists, peer support specialists and other staff. Works as collaborating physician with PA's and APN's as necessary. Orders diagnostic tests and consultations. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions. May participate in supervision and teaching in support of medical students and residents in training. Outpatient: 1 hour provided for new patients, 30 minutes for follow ups. Inpatient (if applicable): working with interdisciplinary team including PA, SW, nursing, and others on inpatient unit. Management of psychiatric inpatients from admit to discharge, with assistance of PA's. Documentation including psychiatric evaluations, suicide risk assessments, daily progress notes, and others as applicable. Covering of inpatient consults may be required. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm. Will be required to take call.
