Eligible applicants will be referred each week for consideration until a selection is made. The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking experienced Surgical Hospitalist. The Surgical Hospitalist takes a comprehensive approach to caring for patients. Primary responsibility is for patient care while leading a team of caregivers who are experts in different specialties. Surgical Hospitalist will oversee the many decisions involved with critically ill patient care and coordinates all the other services for optimal results. Will report to the Section Chief of Surgical Critical Care and Perioperative Care. Duties include, but not limited to: Oversights patient care on the surgery service in collaboration with the attending surgeon. Performs and document consultation on all patients. Writes orders and perform rounds. Performs and documents diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of individual clinical privileges. Participates in the educational programs for the surgical unit personnel as well as the medical staff. Participates in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care. Demonstrates ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization. Participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Attends Medical Service staff meetings Completes medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. Participates in Medical Staff committee assignments. Performs other duties assigned by the Chief of Surgery Service. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:30am-6:00 pm(Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs). Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
