Piping Designer

We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer with strong expertise in 3D plant design software, AutoCAD, and Revit to support the design, modelling, and coordination of complex industrial projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in process piping systems, piping fabrication, and multidisciplinary coordination within data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, petrochemical, and industrial manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Design & 3D Modeling

  • Develop detailed 3D piping models using Autodesk Plant 3D, Revit, and other applicable design software.
  • Prepare piping layouts, routing studies, equipment arrangements, and plant design models.
  • Design process piping systems including utility piping, chemical distribution systems, cleanroom piping, gas piping, chilled water systems, and process cooling water systems.
  • Ensure piping designs comply with project specifications, engineering requirements, and industry standards.
  • Perform piping routing optimisation to improve constructability, accessibility, maintenance, and operational efficiency.
  • Generate accurate piping isometrics, orthographic drawings, plans, elevations, and sections.

Fabrication & Construction Support

  • Prepare detailed fabrication drawings and spool drawings for shop fabrication and site installation.
  • Develop material take-offs (MTOs) and bill of materials (BOMs) for procurement and fabrication activities.
  • Review fabrication requirements and ensure designs are practical and cost-effective for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with fabrication workshops to resolve design-related issues during production.
  • Support construction teams by providing technical clarifications and resolving site-related design challenges.
  • Review and incorporate field changes and as-built information into project documentation.

Coordination & Clash Detection

  • Conduct interdisciplinary coordination with mechanical, process, structural, architectural, electrical, and BIM teams.
  • Perform clash detection and model coordination using BIM and 3D design platforms.
  • Participate in design reviews and constructability reviews to identify and mitigate potential installation issues.
  • Coordinate equipment connections, pipe supports, and routing interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Ensure model integrity and consistency across all project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, plant engineering, drafting, design technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a piping designer in industrial or process plant projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Revit, and other 3D modelling/design software.
  • Strong experience in process piping design and piping fabrication drawings.
  • Proven project experience in one or more of the following sectors:
  • Data Centers
  • Semiconductor Manufacturing Facilities
  • Pharmaceutical Facilities
  • Petrochemical Plants
  • Chemical Processing Plants
  • Industrial Manufacturing Facilities
  • Familiarity with piping materials, fittings, valves, supports, and fabrication requirements.
  • Good understanding of international codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, ASTM, API, and relevant local regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
