Planning Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed turnaround work packages, job plans, and schedules.

  • Review maintenance work scopes, engineering requirements, and inspection findings.

  • Conduct site walkdowns to verify job scope, access requirements, and resource needs.

  • Prepare manpower, equipment, material, and subcontractor requirements.

  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Engineering, SHE, and Contractors during planning and execution phases.

  • Estimate labour hours, equipment requirements, and turnaround costs.

  • Develop task sequences and identify critical path activities.

  • Ensure all materials, tools, permits, and resources are available before execution.

  • Monitor turnaround progress and provide daily planning support during execution.

  • Track schedule performance, productivity, and work completion status.

  • Identify schedule risks, constraints, and opportunities for optimization.

  • Prepare turnaround reports, KPIs, and post-turnaround lessons learned.

  • Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, quality standards, and client requirements.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of planning experience in refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, or industrial plant maintenance.

  • Experience in plant turnaround/shutdown planning is preferred.

  • Planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project are added advantage

  • Good communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work under tight schedules and turnaround environments.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance activities including:

    • Heaters

    • Static Equipment

    • Rotating Equipment

    • Piping

    • Heat Exchangers

    • Pressure Vessels

    • Valves
