Planning Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed turnaround work packages, job plans, and schedules.
Review maintenance work scopes, engineering requirements, and inspection findings.
Conduct site walkdowns to verify job scope, access requirements, and resource needs.
Prepare manpower, equipment, material, and subcontractor requirements.
Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Engineering, SHE, and Contractors during planning and execution phases.
Estimate labour hours, equipment requirements, and turnaround costs.
Develop task sequences and identify critical path activities.
Ensure all materials, tools, permits, and resources are available before execution.
Monitor turnaround progress and provide daily planning support during execution.
Track schedule performance, productivity, and work completion status.
Identify schedule risks, constraints, and opportunities for optimization.
Prepare turnaround reports, KPIs, and post-turnaround lessons learned.
Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, quality standards, and client requirements.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of planning experience in refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, or industrial plant maintenance.
Experience in plant turnaround/shutdown planning is preferred.
Planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project are added advantage
Good communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work under tight schedules and turnaround environments.
Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance activities including:
Heaters
Static Equipment
Rotating Equipment
Piping
Heat Exchangers
Pressure Vessels
Valves
