Plant Design Engineer (for projects in Finland)
As a member of the team water supply plant engineering at AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects in that will make a real impact. Through the Design Center you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals in Finland, use cutting-edge technology, and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients.
We are looking to expand our team of experts and hire additional talent for our plant design team. At the moment, we are seeking a Plant Design Engineer.
In this role, you will take responsibility for mechanical and piping design in multidisciplinary design projects. The scope and responsibilities of the role will be defined according to your experience and expertise. You will be involved in water and wastewater treatment plant equipment selection and piping design, as well as layout design. We use modern AutoCAD-, Cadmatic-, and Vertex-based design software tools.
It is important that you are a team player that like to work in teams with different competences and that you are curious and eager to learn new things.
About the team in Finland:
In Finland, we currently have 15 plant design engineers and project managers. We work with a wide scope of assignments ranging from the planning-stage to execution of drawings for final production. In general we work in 3-person teams assigned to different projects, our engineers have a typical workload of 2-4 ongoing projects.
Your key responsibilities are:
- Perform 3D plant design and modelling, including equipment layout, process piping, and overall plant 3D model (AutoCAD, Cadmatic, Vertex)
- Develop piping and mechanical design solutions for water and wastewater treatment plants
- Prepare equipment specifications and technical documentation
- Create and maintain 2D technical drawings and design documentation
- Participate in all project phases, including:
- Pre-engineering
- Basic engineering
- Detailed engineering
- Support equipment selection and dimensioning based on project requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across locations, particularly with colleagues in Finland
- Ensure high-quality, accurate, and efficient design delivery across multiple parallel projects
Must have:
- A Qualified Degree in Process/Mechanical/Environmental Engineering.
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in plant engineering with a focus on water sector
- Good written and verbal English language (CEFR minimum level B1)
- Working knowledge of 3D based engineering.
- A good knowledge of working in all applications of MS Office
Good to have:
- Experience of working abroad, especially projects in the Nordics
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Cadmatic
- Knowledge of Plant 3D
- References for water treatment related projects
