Plant Manager

Our Amsterdam biodiesel facility is one of Greenergy's key renewable fuel production sites, supplying lower-carbon transport fuels across Europe. We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead the site, providing visible leadership across all aspects of site operations while driving a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Biodiesel Operations & Development, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the facility, leading a well-established management team and ensuring the site continues to deliver against production, quality and environmental objectives.

The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience within a manufacturing or process industry environment, together with a genuine passion for developing people, driving continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Strong English communication skills are essential. Whilst not a requirement, Dutch language skills would be advantageous given the nature of the role and interaction with local stakeholders and regulatory authorities.

  • Lead the Site Management Team, and oversee all day to day plant activities
  • Continually review operational efficiency and where possible reduce waste
  • Deliver against business production plans, ensuring volume and quality requirements are achieved
  • Develop and deliver improvement plans incorporating engineering modifications and improved Plant operation
  • Increase production, process capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Deliver safety, health, environmental and quality excellence by ensuring plant appearance and housekeeping standards are maintained and company policy and regulatory compliance is adhered to.
  • Lead and motivate all teams to ensure standards, expectations and priorities are clear
  • Complete regular quality performance appraisals to drive improved performance
  • Ensure polices and procedures are followed in all areas of the production facility
  • Working with the management team, identify training and development requirements for the production team and assist the HR Team in planning training for individuals and teams
  • Oversee recruitment, absence and overtime to ensure adequate resource is maintained and individual and team performance is proactively managed
  • Working with the Safety and Compliance Manager maintain contact with the Dutch Authorities to comply with all legal, regulatory and statutory obligations
  • To remain aware of all commercial operating aspects of the plant and the markets in which it operates
  • Set the site standards for safety, health, and environment
  • Full knowledge of the Plant emergency procedures and associated responses are required.
  • A strong manager with leadership skills, team building and decision making skills
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering or significant process operations
  • Previous experience working in a process plant is essential, with a process, chemical background
  • Previous people management experience with knowledge of shift working/operations desirable
  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Experience in managing and delivering projects
  • Candidate must be able to work under pressure, be self-motivated, credible, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to maximize the performance of the plant
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledge and understanding of current Dutch legislation and compliance e.g. BRZO, ADR
