PLM Engineer (Windchill / Teamcenter)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a PLM Engineer (Windchill / Teamcenter) based in the United States.

This is a senior, hands-on platform engineering role focused on the operation, optimization, and reliability of enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of large-scale Windchill or Teamcenter environments that support critical engineering and manufacturing workflows. The role spans system administration, upgrades, integrations, performance tuning, and high availability design across complex distributed environments. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and IT stakeholders to deliver a robust and scalable PLM ecosystem that supports product development at enterprise scale. The position requires strong technical depth, a structured engineering mindset, and a focus on operational excellence and system reliability. Accountabilities

  • Install, configure, and operate Windchill or Teamcenter PLM environments across development, testing, and production systems.
  • Lead platform upgrades, patching, and migration activities while minimizing downtime and operational disruption.
  • Manage core PLM infrastructure including application servers, web servers, method servers, and database connectivity layers.
  • Operate and maintain file vaults, replication services, and CAD data management components.
  • Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies for PLM platforms.
  • Optimize system performance through JVM tuning, query optimization, caching strategies, and indexing improvements.
  • Manage user access, security configurations, and compliance/audit requirements within PLM environments.
  • Support and operate PLM integrations with enterprise systems via middleware and integration brokers.
  • Develop automation scripts using shell, Python, or Ansible to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
  • Monitor system health and performance using native and external observability tools.
  • Provide production support, including incident response, root cause analysis, and post-go-live hypercare.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and configuration standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices, standards, and engineering maturity across the team.

  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
    • 5+ years of experience in PLM platform administration or engineering.
    • Hands-on experience with PTC Windchill or Siemens Teamcenter in enterprise production environments.
    • Strong experience with PLM upgrades, migrations, and large-scale system maintenance.
    • Solid knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server database administration fundamentals.
    • Strong Linux/Unix system administration skills.
    • Experience supporting HA/DR strategies for enterprise applications.
    • Familiarity with PLM integration frameworks, middleware, and enterprise connectivity patterns.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as shell, Python, or Ansible.
    • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation abilities.
    • Experience with CAD integration at scale is a plus.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI), or infrastructure automation is advantageous.
