NPL now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Mobile Maintenance Department as Supervisor – Shift – Auxiliary Workshop.
About the role
Reporting to the Superintendent – Heavy Mobile Equipment Maintenance (HME), the Supervisor – Shift will be responsible for the immediate supervision of HME Auxiliary Workshop personal and pass on directives from foreman and superintendent to work force via supervisors to ensure all safety procedures are followed.
The ideal candidate must have:
• Relevant tradesman qualification or certification preferred.
• Proven experience of minimum of 5 years in heavy mobile maintenance and repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably with a focus on Auxiliary Equipment [Dozers, Graders, Loaders and Mobile Support Equipment]
• Sound technical knowledge of heavy equipment and industry leading maintenance practices
• Exemplary focus on workplace safety and Safety Management System compliance.
• Proficient computer skills [Microsoft Office] with the ability to navigate Integrated Management Systems
• Proven leadership skills, Lead with conviction, ability to build and foster a strong team environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate through both Seniors and Sub-ordinates
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a safety-conscious manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and supervise a team of tradesperson to,
o Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practice in all heavy mobile equipment maintenance activities.
o Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with NPL’s Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Policy and all related rules and procedures.
• Coordinate and prioritize daily work schedules [Compliance to Plan], including preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting tasks to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Conduct regular inspections of heavy mobile equipment maintenance, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members and Senior Management
• Collaborate with other sections and departments to coordinate and optimize equipment performance and availability.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records, and reporting documentation.
• Train and mentor team members, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
