We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate /Research Fellow in applied or public health breast cancer research to help achieve the mission and vision of the BREAST Australia research team with the Sydney School of Health Sciences.

Our research group is dedicated to advancing healthcare through cutting-edge research and innovation. Our mission is to improve the accuracy and efficiency of early breast cancer detection using state-of-the-art medical imaging technologies. Your key responsibilities will be to:

engage in research either independently or as part of a research team
apply expertise in research methodologies, design and delivery to contribute to the University's standing as a national leader in the discipline
bring and maintain a research profile which meets University expectations and standards, including publication of peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations and research outputs
maintain an understanding of the University’s strategic agenda and contribute to furthering that agenda
provide training and support to students and research staff where appropriate
engage in research evaluation and assessment of research practice
undertake literature reviews, report writing and ethics applications
prepare and contribute to grant applications and submissions
supervise postgraduate and honours research students
coordinate administrative tasks associated with research projects
contribute to breast cancer research projects involving clinical imaging, population health, image perception and healthcare innovation
analyse clinical, imaging and health-related datasets using appropriate quantitative methods
contribute to the development, evaluation or application of artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches relevant to breast cancer research and medical imaging, where appropriate
collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiologists, radiographers, clinicians, epidemiologists, health scientists and data scientists

About you:

Completed a Ph.D. in either applied breast cancer research, public health breast cancer research, in Clinical Medical Imaging, or a relevant discipline (health sciences, Medicine)
demonstrated experience in health, medical, imaging or population-based research
breast imaging experience would be preferred; however, applicants with other clinical medical imaging or health research backgrounds will also be considered
demonstrated experience or knowledge in one or more of the following:
- working effectively with experts across multiple disciplines including radiologists, radiographers, clinicians, public health researchers and health professionals
- medical imaging modalities such as MRI, Digital Mammography, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, PET, CT, X-ray equipment or related technologies
- artificial intelligence, machine learning, image analytics, computer vision or related computational approaches applied to healthcare research (desirable)

a peer-reviewed publication track record that demonstrates research excellence relative to opportunity
demonstrated scientific creativity, innovation and problem-solving ability
outstanding interpersonal and communication skills in a collaborative team environment
