Power Plant Fuels Technician
You will start, stop, regulate, control, evaluate, and perform routine maintenance on mobile equipment, material handling systems and ash conditioning equipment. You will operate bulldozers, front-end loaders, excavators, tractors, water trucks and utility trucks; load and unload trucks; maintain fuel quality; perform building, grounds and site maintenance; control dust, erosion and water treatment; follow MSHA and environmental rules; complete required fuel training; work rotating shifts, overtime and occasional on-call shifts; wear required PPE and participate in fitness for duty and drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment including bulldozer, front-end loader, excavator, tractor, water trucks and utility truck
- Start, stop, regulate and control material handling and ash conditioning equipment
- Load and unload trucks
- Supply the plant with required quality fuel
- Perform building, grounds and site maintenance
- Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned areas
- Assist in controlling dust, erosion, sedimentation and water treatment to meet environmental requirements
- Complete Fuel Training within one year
Requirements
- Read, write and communicate effectively in English and perform basic math (high school diploma or equivalent preferred)
- Obtain MSHA certification (training provided)
- Operate heavy equipment and perform basic fueling and maintenance
- Use basic hand tools, portable electric and pneumatic tools, and rigging equipment such as winches, hoists and slings
- Work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and on-call as required
- Lift routinely up to 50 pounds and climb stairs and ladders
- Participate in Fitness for Duty program including post-offer physical exam and drug screening
