Power Supply & Distribution Engineer

Validation of Construction Drawings

  • Review and validate power supply and traction system drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and international railway standards (EN 50122, EN 50163, IEC 61850).
  • Coordinate with design teams and suppliers to resolve any discrepancies or technical issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation and updates of power supply and distribution system layouts.

Site Supervision

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of power supply and traction 750V DC systems, including:
    • 750V DC Traction Power System (Third Rail or Overhead Conductor Rail)
    • Traction Power Substations (TPS) and associated Rectifier Units
    • Medium Voltage (MV) & Low Voltage (LV) Power Distribution
    • DC Switchgear, Protection Relays, and Energy Metering
    • Emergency Power Supply Systems (UPS, Generators)
    • Earthing, Bonding & Lightning Protection Systems
  • Ensure all work is executed according to approved plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with installation quality and system reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance to construction teams and resolve on-site power-related challenges.

Installation, Testing & Commissioning (T&C)

  • Supervise the installation and integration of the traction power system with the monorail infrastructure.
  • Ensure correct power distribution and energy efficiency in compliance with railway traction requirements.
  • Develop and implement testing and validation procedures for substations, power supply systems, and traction equipment.
  • Conduct voltage, insulation resistance, load, and performance tests before energization.
  • Lead the commissioning phase to ensure the safe and stable operation of power supply and distribution.

Integration & Operational Readiness

  • Ensure seamless integration of traction power, substations, and auxiliary power systems with other monorail subsystems (signalling, OCC, SCADA, AFC, PSD).
  • Coordinate with train manufacturers, electrical contractors, and system integrators for a smooth energy distribution strategy.
  • Optimize power system reliability, redundancy, and regenerative braking compatibility.
  • Monitor and evaluate long-term performance, energy efficiency, and maintenance strategies for traction power.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in traction power supply, railway electrification, or power distribution.
  • Strong expertise in 750V DC traction systems, substations, rectifier units, and railway power supply design.
  • Experience in power distribution protection, circuit breakers, transformers, and emergency power systems.
  • Knowledge of railway electrical safety standards (EN 50122, EN 50163, IEC 61850, NFPA 130).
  • Experience in site supervision, testing, and commissioning of traction power systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and team management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
