As a Prep Cook at Los Tacos No. 1, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our kitchen by preparing and organizing ingredients for use in cooking and assembly of menu items.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and portioning condiments according to established recipes and standards.
  • Monitor ingredient levels and communicate with kitchen staff to ensure adequate stock levels for upcoming shifts, assisting in inventory organization and rotation as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of kitchen equipment, including knives, slicers, and food processors, following proper cleaning and maintenance procedures.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper storage, labeling, and handling of ingredients to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Work closely with kitchen team members, cook / taqueros, to coordinate preparation efforts and contribute to the efficient flow of operations during peak hours.
  • Assist in quality control measures by inspecting ingredients for freshness and ensuring consistency in portion sizes and presentation standards.
  • Be willing to assist in various kitchen duties as needed, including dishwashing, cleaning, and organization of workstations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a food preparation role, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant / fast food environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion sizes accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure during busy periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
