Pitney Bowes is now hiring for a Direct Hire Full Time Warehouse Presort Associate 2 in our Houston, TX facility.
1st shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Base Rate: $17.75/hr
You Are:
An individual who enjoys a fast paced, physical production environment while developing new skills in the mailing industry. You are a hard-working and vital contributor to our company’s success in meeting productivity standards and customer satisfaction ratings.
Operator:
- Operate MLOCR machines to sort and barcode mail received from customers
- Maintain accuracy and productivity standards while running the equipment.
- Follow QMS practices and policies to assure quality of output by double checking the date, weight, thickness, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc.
- Assist Presorters as needed. Assist in assuring proper tray labels are available and being utilized, and mail is being placed in correct bins and processing areas
- Keep down time to a minimum
- Understand machine software and how and when to change sort plans, set address blocks, etc. Maximize read rates on the mail by making appropriate adjustments and/or notifying supervisor
- Check barcodes for quality (print quality, orientation, spacing, etc.)
- Remain informed of Acceptance Times and when trucks must leave. Assure mail is prepared to hit these times
- Assure the machine is running properly. Notify technicians or supervisors of any problems noticed. Trouble shoot or notify someone who can assist with any machine malfunctions
- Maintain area around the machine to assure it is a clean, orderly and safe environment
Quality Control:
- Fan through/inspects the mail to check quality. Review for legibility, correct date, postage, proper endorsement, class and complete address information
- Organize the mail by separating the mail that has been quality checked from mail that has not been checked
- Review pickup slips received from driver’s route to ensure all slips have been received
- Identify mail to be processed, grouping by letters, flats and postcards
- Review mail, complete samples (as required) and recognize quality issues
- Recognize MLOCR compatible mail, overweight's, Fastforward and Non Fastforward mail to organize for proper processing
- Check-in mail using PSA system
- Work with Customer Service team and Operations team to communicate and resolve mail quality issues
General:
- Additional certification training may be required as current training is updated and new training is developed
- Demonstrate safety and security precautions and follows company policies
- Perform all additional duties as required
Your Background:
- Preferably PB employees with a minimum of 1 year experience
- Dependable and reliable
- Knowledge of the pre-sort mailing business is a plus
- Basic computer skills and operational knowledge of Microsoft software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong customer service skills
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation
- The ability to walk, stand, stoop, and bend 80% of the time with or without accommodation
- A basic enough understanding of English to be able to understand and follow safety and other operational directions communicated in English, irrespective of your native language
- The ability to work overtime which may include weekends, holidays and or a different shift with little or no advance notice
