Principal Civil Engineer- Roads & Renewable Infrastructure

Arcadis is looking for a Principal Civil Engineer (Roads & Renewable Infrastructure) to join our Queensland Civil Infrastructure team.
This role will play a key part in delivering civil design packages across Arcadis’ growing renewable energy portfolio (solar, wind and BESS), while also contributing to broader transport infrastructure projects.
The position is suited to a well-rounded civil engineer with strong design, project coordination and client engagement experience, capable of leading design inputs, mentoring teams and ensuring high-quality outcomes across multidisciplinary environments.
- Lead the coordination and technical interface between Australian delivery teams and Arcadis Global Excellence Centres (India and Manila), ensuring alignment with Australian standards and project expectations
- Review and provide assurance of design models, drawings and deliverables prepared by distributed design teams
- Undertake civil design for roads, earthworks and drainage, particularly where engineering judgement, stakeholder input or local standards are critical
- Review and assess client-provided survey data (including LiDAR) to determine suitability for design and identify gaps impacting delivery
- Support delivery of renewable energy projects, including site access, internal road networks and associated infrastructure
- Act as a key interface with internal stakeholders, Design Managers and clients to respond to queries and resolve design challenges in a timely manner
- Manage multiple concurrent design tasks and support prioritisation in a fast-paced delivery environment
- Contribute to design planning, including allocation of work between local teams and GEC resources
- Ensure compliance with Arcadis design standards, Austroads and relevant state authority requirements (e.g. TMR)
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers, supporting capability uplift across the team
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design delivery, including workflows, standards and quality processes
First and foremost, you share our passion for delivering sustainable infrastructure and enabling the energy transition. You will bring:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered status (CPEng / RPEQ) or working towards
- Demonstrated experience delivering civil design across transport infrastructure and/or renewable energy projects
- Strong background in design coordination, multidisciplinary delivery and client interface role
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams concurrently while maintaining quality and program outcomes
- Experience reviewing and approving design outputs (CAD, models and documentation)
- Experience working with offshore or distributed design teams is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of Austroads and state-based standards (e.g. TMR)
- Ability to interpret survey data (including LiDAR) and understand design constraints
- Proficiency in 12D is preferred; experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads is desirable
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to engage clients and internal teams effectively
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring and developing junior engineers
