Principal Consultant - Cloud & DevOps
Principal Consultant – Cloud & DevOps would lead the design, implementation, and governance of cloud-native and DevOps solutions across Azure and AWS environments.
The role would involve transformation of an MVP application into a production-grade, multi-tenant SaaS platform by enabling cloud-native architecture—driving database migration (SQLite → PostgreSQL/SQL), containerized deployments on Azure, secure identity and access management (AAD/RBAC), CI/CD pipeline implementation, API gateway enablement, observability setup, and performance optimization for scalable operations.
Design and operate a secure, scalable cloud platform capable of supporting tens of thousands of concurrent users by implementing robust CI/CD, container orchestration, monitoring, and reliability engineering practices—leveraging automation and modern engineering accelerators (including AI-assisted development) to enable rapid, high-quality delivery.
Cloud Architecture & implementation (Azure + AWS)
Lead design and implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-optimized cloud architectures on Azure and AWS
Drive adoption of PaaS, serverless, and container-based solutions
Architect solutions using:
- Azure App Service, Functions, Blob Storage, Key Vault, AAD (Entra ID)
- Equivalent AWS services (Lambda, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager, ECS/EKS)
Establish cloud governance, security policies, and cost optimization strategies.
Containerization & Platform Engineering
Design and implement container-based platforms using Docker
Build and optimize:
- Docker Compose setups for multi-service environments
- Multi-stage builds for secure, lightweight images
Lead deployment using container orchestration platforms:
- Kubernetes (AKS/EKS) / Azure Container Apps
CI/CD & DevOps Transformation
Architect and implement end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps to enable
- Automated builds, testing, and deployment pipelines
- Multi-stage environment promotion (Dev → QA → Prod)
- Deployment strategies (blue-green, canary, rolling updates)
Drive DevOps maturity and engineering productivity improvements
Source Control & Engineering Practices
Define and enforce Git best practices across teams:
- Branching strategies (trunk-based, GitFlow)
- Rebasing and clean commit management
- Mono-repo vs multi-repo governance
Establish PR standards, code review practices, and release workflows
Reliability, Observability & Operations
Observability — Structured logging, distributed tracing, APM (Application Insights, Datadog, or equivalent)
Reliability — Health checks, graceful degradation, retry patterns, circuit breakers, define Site reliability SLAs, SLOs, alerting, incident response
Security & Compliance (DevSecOps)
Implement secure DevOps practices:
- Secret management (Key Vault / AWS Secrets Manager)
- Identity and access control (AAD / IAM)
Integrate security scans into pipelines (SAST, dependency, container scanning)
Performance
Provisioning Redis (Azure Cache, AWS ElastiCache)
Scaling / monitoring Redis
Required Technical Skills
Docker / Containers | Advanced — Compose, multi-stage builds, container orchestration
Azure Cloud | Proficient — App Service, Functions, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Azure Active Directory.
CI/CD | Advanced — GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps. Automated testing, staged deployments
Git | Advanced — Branching strategies, rebasing, monorepo or multi-repo workflows

Required Experience
- Minimum 8 years professional experience in Cloud & DevOps
- Proven experience in scaling MVP/prototype applications to production-ready SaaS platforms, with responsibility for cloud architecture, performance optimization, high availability, and handling thousands of concurrent global users
- Hands-on experience enabling multi-tenant SaaS architectures, including data isolation strategies, tenant-aware configuration, and scalable infrastructure to support multiple clients securely
- implementation of automated database migration strategies, including schema versioning, zero-downtime deployments, and ensuring data integrity at scale
- experience in enabling enterprise identity for cloud workloads—SSO federation, OAuth2/OIDC flows, RBAC/least-privilege access, and secure credential lifecycle management across CI/CD and runtime
- Proven experience defining and implementing API platform controls—versioning, throttling policies, caching strategies, and performance standards—via API gateways/management platforms in cloud environments.
Required: Infrastructure & Operations
- Observability — Implement and operate end-to-end observability, including structured logging, distributed tracing, and APM (Application Insights, Datadog, or equivalent), with dashboards, alerting, and SLO-driven monitoring
- Security — Lead enterprise security practices across DevOps pipelines and cloud platforms, including secrets management, automated vulnerability scanning, policy governance, and alignment with OWASP and Zero Trust principles
- Performance — Design and implement performance strategies including CDN/edge delivery, distributed caching, autoscaling, and performance testing to support high concurrency and low-latency applications
- Reliability — Own system reliability through health checks, readiness/liveness probes, fault-tolerant deployments, and operational resilience mechanisms to maintain high availability and uptime
Preferred (Not Required)
- GIS / geospatial data experience (PostGIS, tile servers, Cesium)
- Experience migrating legacy/prototype codebases to production architecture
- Experience in engineering consultancy or infrastructure sector
- Machine learning model serving / inference pipeline experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of hands‑on software development experience.
