Principal Consultant - Design Management
The Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing the design aspects of infrastructure projects, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance with client requirements, and coordination across disciplines. This role spans the full project lifecycle—from concept to completion—and involves managing consultants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions.
Design Oversight & Coordination
- Monitor and to ensure correctness, completeness, and compliance with scope
- Review and comment on all design documents and drawings; ensure revisions are incorporated
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for technical support and design validation
Project Management
- Lead design-related activities during different stages of the Project
- Prepare and review project strategies, technical proposals, and lifecycle cost analyses .
- Attend Client meeting and convey project submission milestones to various team leads
- Make sure the design teams adhere to project programme
- Flag up any change requests to Commercial and Project Management team
- Help in forming up Variations and EOTs
Technical Leadership
- Propose alternative materials/systems to optimize design, operations, and maintenance
- Conduct risk analysis and provide technical input for safety in design aspects .
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards
Stakeholder Engagement
- Managing IPD team within GCC, India
- Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-consultants
- Present technical solutions and design strategies to Internal and External stakeholders .
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 12 to 15 years of experience in infrastructure design management, preferably with consultancy and contractor exposure
- The candidate should be a Professionally qualified Engineer or should have started the journey towards the same.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of infrastructure systems (roads, utilities, structures)
- Proficiency in design tools (AutoCAD, ACC)
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Familiarity with design coordination, cost estimation, and technical documentation.
