Principal Digital Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Digital Architect based in the United States.

This is a senior-level architecture role focused on shaping and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance digital platforms within a complex enterprise environment. The position sits at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution, requiring the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into robust architectural solutions. You will influence enterprise-wide technology direction while owning end-to-end system design across distributed platforms. Working closely with engineering leaders, product teams, and business stakeholders, you will ensure alignment between architecture decisions and business outcomes. The role also involves evaluating emerging technologies, including AI-driven systems, and defining standards that guide long-term platform evolution. This is a high-impact position for a hands-on architect who thrives in both strategic thinking and deep technical design.

Accountabilities:

Own and define end-to-end architecture for large-scale, distributed systems, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with enterprise performance requirements.

  • Partner with business leaders, product owners, and engineering teams to translate complex business needs into clear architectural designs and technical roadmaps.
  • Evaluate, select, and introduce new technologies through proof-of-concepts, architectural spikes, and structured assessments.
  • Establish architectural standards, best practices, and reference patterns across engineering teams, ensuring consistency and quality across platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and enterprise governance requirements while maintaining clear documentation of design decisions and trade-offs.
  • Continuously evolve platform architecture to improve reliability, developer productivity, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship, influencing teams through expertise rather than formal authority.
  • Requirements:

    This role requires a highly experienced architect with strong technical depth, leadership capability, and the ability to operate in complex, evolving enterprise environments.

    • 5+ years of relevant experience in solution, platform, or enterprise architecture, supported by a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • Strong expertise in designing cloud-native, distributed systems using modern architectural patterns and principles.
    • Deep knowledge of system decomposition, requirements analysis, and translating business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
    • Proven ability to lead without authority and influence cross-functional teams on architectural decisions.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience with enterprise data architecture, including SQL and NoSQL systems and platforms such as Snowflake.
    • Strong programming background in Python and Java, with hands-on understanding of system-level design and implementation.
    • Experience with API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Bonus: Experience designing AI architectures including LLM-based systems, RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and enterprise AI integration strategies.
