Principal Logistician

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Entarian is seeking an experienced Principal Logistician to serve as the logistics program lead responsible for life-cycle sustainment planning, supply chain integration, and spares management across complex defense and space systems. The Principal Logistician provides end-to-end logistics leadership across acquisition, deployment, operations, and sustainment phases to ensure mission readiness, system availability, and cost-effective supportability. This role works closely with program management, engineering, supply chain organizations, government stakeholders, and contractors to align logistics strategies with operational requirements and system design.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting large-scale logistics operations in defense, space, communications, mission systems, or enterprise technical environments with emphasis on sustainment, spares, and readiness management.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the logistics program lead responsible for developing and executing integrated logistics support (ILS) strategies across the system life-cycle.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain logistics support plans, sustainment strategies, and product support road-maps aligned with program objectives and operational requirements.
  • Lead spares management activities, including provisioning, inventory planning, demand forecasting, procurement coordination, and life-cycle replenishment strategies.
  • Conduct logistics analyses including Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), failure rate analysis, reliability modeling inputs, and supportability assessments.
  • Define and manage supply chain strategies for critical components, including vendor coordination, lead time management, obsolescence mitigation, and parts availability planning.
  • Support provisioning, cataloging, and configuration management of spares, repair-ables, and consumables across operational environments.
  • Coordinate maintenance planning and execution strategies, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and depot-level support planning.
  • Integrate logistics requirements into system design reviews to ensure supportability, maintainability, and sustainment considerations are incorporated early in development.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to influence design for supportability, reliability, maintainability, and life-cycle cost optimization.
  • Develop and maintain logistics documentation including Integrated Logistics Support Plans (ILSP), Maintenance Plans, Provisioning Plans, and supportability analyses.
  • Support life-cycle cost analysis, cost modeling inputs, and sustainment affordability assessments in coordination with program finance teams.
  • Manage logistics performance metrics including system availability, mean time to repair (MTTR), supply response time, fill rates, and readiness indicators.
  • Coordinate with government supply chain organizations, depots, contractors, and mission partners to ensure timely delivery and sustainment of systems and components.
  • Support program reviews, logistics assessments, readiness reviews, and integrated product team (IPT) meetings.
  • Identify logistics risks including supply chain disruption, obsolescence, single-source dependencies, and long-lead procurement items, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support transition from development to operations, including fielding, deployment, and sustainment handover activities.
  • Provide executive-level logistics reporting, readiness assessments, and sustainment recommendations to program leadership and government stakeholders.

Salary range: $99,000.00 - $124,000.00

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred depending on program scope).
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, integrated logistics support (ILS), or sustainment engineering within defense, aerospace, space, or complex technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing spares provisioning, inventory planning, or sustainment operations for mission-critical systems.
  • Experience developing and executing logistics support plans, maintenance strategies, and sustainment architectures.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, procurement processes, vendor coordination, and life-cycle sustainment planning.
  • Experience supporting complex systems with hardware and software dependencies in distributed operational environments.
  • Experience supporting program reviews, logistics analyses, readiness assessments, or sustainment reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage technical teams, program leadership, government customers, and supply chain stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Power-Point, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% to support customer locations, logistics operations, depots, and mission partner engagements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, U.S. Space Force, NASA, or Intelligence Community logistics or sustainment programs.
  • Experience with enterprise logistics systems, ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle), or government supply chain management tools.
  • Experience with obsolescence management, DMSMS (Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages), and life-cycle sustainment planning.
  • Experience supporting spares optimization modeling, predictive maintenance, or reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
  • Familiarity with digital engineering, configuration management, and system life-cycle management tools.
  • Experience supporting space systems, satellite communications, ground systems, or mission operations logistics environments.
  • Certified Professional Logistician (CPL), APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP), or DAU logistics certifications.
  • Experience integrating logistics considerations into system design reviews and engineering trade studies.
  • Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional logistics teams or leading sustainment organizations.
