Principal Manager/Senior Manager/Manager [SPD]

[What the role is]

You will play a key role in the Strategic Planning Division as an individual contributor and/or team lead, supporting the development of SWDA’s strategic direction, policy work and organisational development efforts. This includes working across SWDA and with external stakeholders such as MOM and Whole-of-Government partners to shape strategies, review policies, monitor emerging trends, and strengthen organisational alignment and effectiveness. Your responsibilities may include the following:

[What you will be working on]

  • Drive and support strategic planning work to shape SWDA’s long-term direction and priorities
    • Develop and coordinate strategies to inform policy, programmes and initiatives across SWDA
    • Work with SWDA divisions to translate strategic priorities into coordinated plans and actionable initiatives
    • Monitor and assess emerging trends and future developments, including working with the Futures Office, to strengthen SWDA’s strategic planning
    • Work on strategic communications issues arising from SWDA’s strategic priorities, in collaboration with the Strategic Comms Division where required

  • Formulate and review policies to support the achievement of SWDA’s mission
    • Conceptualize and coordinate whole-of-government policies to advance the Jobs and Skills agenda
    • Drive and coordinate policy reviews to ensure relevance and alignment to SWDA’s strategic objectives
    • Serve as a key interface with MOM and Whole-of-Government partners on policy matters, including supporting Budget/COS and responses to Parliamentary Questions

  • Drive and support organisational development efforts to strengthen SWDA’s effectiveness
    • Support initiatives that align SWDA’s structures, processes and ways of working with its strategic directions
    • Work across divisions including corporate planning and HR to strengthen organisational alignment, improve effectiveness
    • Enhance organisational capacity to respond to internal and external challenges through planning, coordination and capability-building efforts

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and able to understand issues beyond the surface
  • Good project management and problem-solving skills
  • Have a good theoretical understanding and application of principles and concepts in labour economics
  • Have a good understanding of public governance and its principles
  • Familiarity with data governance and principles is preferred
