The Platform & Data Product organization sits within Expedia Group's wider Product function and is responsible for building the foundational data and AI capabilities that power our global travel ecosystem. The team oversees Expedia Group's data products, enterprise data domains, analytics platforms, AI/ML platforms, streaming and experimentation platforms, metrics platforms, and the governance and quality frameworks that underpin them. We partner closely with engineering teams across the business to deliver scalable, reliable, and AI-ready data infrastructure. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager who brings deep data platform expertise and can own significant product capabilities across this portfolio — driving strategy, adoption, and measurable outcomes wherever the team needs experienced leadership most.
In this role, you will:
- Own and drive the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for one or more data platform capabilities
- Translate complex technical and business needs into clear, outcome-driven priorities with measurable impact
- Define and deliver scalable platform capabilities across the data lifecycle, including data ingestion, quality and observability, governance and access control, metadata and discoverability, metrics and semantic layers, and AI/ML-ready data infrastructure
- Build trusted data platform experiences for engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders
- Reduce toil, improve data quality perception, and accelerate time to insight
- Embed AI-driven features to improve discoverability, automate quality checks, enable natural language data access, and support agentic analytics use cases
- Translate platform and business needs into a clear, outcome-driven roadmap and prioritize based on impact, feasibility, and measurable results
- Partner with engineering, data, analytics, and business teams to deliver scalable platform solutions across interconnected capabilities
- Define and track adoption and impact metrics such as usage, reliability, cost efficiency, time-to-insight, and user satisfaction
- Evaluate trade-offs and drive continuous improvement
- Champion platform quality, scalability, and governance while driving broad adoption
- Establish the data platform as a trusted, self-service foundation for the company
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 10+ years of product management or related technology experience, including ownership of complex platform or data products
- Experience leading data-centric platforms such as data infrastructure, analytics enablement, data quality frameworks, metrics platforms, governance systems, and data catalog and discoverability tools
- Strong background in data analysis, analytics, or data engineering with a deep understanding of data ecosystems and workflows
- Proven track record of defining and executing product strategy and roadmaps for complex, cross-functional data platforms with measurable business impact
- Strong technical fluency in APIs, data modeling, and distributed systems, including experience with always-on data platforms and data flow architectures
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to deliver sophisticated platform capabilities
- Experience defining and driving adoption and success metrics across platform products
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams on prioritization, governance, and trade-offs
- Ability to clearly articulate the business value of data platform investments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading enterprise-scale data platforms with broad adoption across multiple domains or capability areas
- Track record in platform governance, data quality, and self-service enablement across diverse user populations
- Familiarity with data platform domains including metadata and catalog experiences, data quality and observability, metrics and semantic layers, experimentation frameworks, and data contracts
- Experience building or integrating AI/ML-powered platform capabilities such as semantic search, recommendations, natural language query interfaces, and agentic data access
- Strong ability to influence architecture and operating models without direct authority across a matrixed engineering organisation
- Experience using data to measure platform adoption, product health, and operational performance across multiple interconnected capabilities
