Product Accounting Manager, Cash App

You will partner with engineering and product teams to build scalable revenue recognition processes in Oracle and manage month-end close for Cash App products. You will review current revenue recognition procedures and implement improvements to boost efficiency and timeliness of the close and reporting. You will prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to Cash App products, and reconcile intercompany balances. You will interface with Internal Audit and the independent public accounting firm on technical accounting matters. You will work closely with Technical Accounting, Internal Audit, Accounting, Tax, Counsel, and Treasury to meet day-to-day needs and ensure compliance. You will continuously improve business processes and controls as part of SOX compliance and collaborate with cross-functional teams domestically and internationally. You will partner with Square’s Finance & Strategy team to investigate variances between actual results and forecasts and assist in budgeting, and you will support quarterly reviews and annual audits, completing special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Take on new tasks, operationalize and refine them, and move on to new responsibilities
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to build scalable revenue recognition processes in Oracle
  • Review current revenue recognition processes and procedures and implement improvements to improve efficiency and timeliness of the close and reporting
  • Prepare month end journal entries and reconciliations and supporting schedules related to Cash App products
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and establish processes for current and future state intercompany transactions
  • Interface with Internal Audit and the independent public accounting firm on technical accounting matters
  • Work closely with Technical Accounting Internal Audit Accounting Tax Counsel and Treasury teams to ensure day-to-day operational needs and compliance requirements are met
  • Continuously improve business processes systems and enhance documentation and controls as part of SOX compliance
  • Work with diverse and cross functional teams domestically and internationally
  • Partner with Square’s Finance & Strategy team to investigate variances between actual results and forecasts and assist in budgeting
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits performed by external auditors
  • Complete special projects as needed

Requirements

  • Passion for Block Strong interest in technology knowledge of the industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance CPA preferred
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Previous role(s) should include internal or external audit GL accounting and/or revenue accounting
  • Strong technical expertise in GAAP
  • Oracle Cloud experience a plus
