Product Counsel, Crypto

You will provide legal leadership for marketplaces and products, advising on federal and state securities, banking, and insurance laws. You will give day-to-day legal and strategic advice to markets teams, counsel across the product lifecycle from conception to launch, operation, and sunset, and review product functionality for compliance. You will monitor evolving digital assets, blockchain, securities, and technology laws and deliver guidance to marketing and design. You will prepare and negotiate financial agreements and build relationships with affiliates and ecosystem partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal leadership and advice on securities banking and insurance laws
  • Advise markets-focused teams on legal business and strategic matters for digital tokens and financial products
  • Counsel throughout the product lifecycle from conception to launch operation and sunset
  • Monitor and interpret digital assets blockchain securities and technology laws and regulations
  • Deliver legal guidance to marketing and design teams regarding product lifecycle matters
  • Establish and maintain relationships with affiliates and ecosystem partners
  • Prepare and negotiate financial agreements and related documentation

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years practicing as outside counsel or in-house counsel for financial services firms
  • Deep subject matter expertise in the Securities Act of 1933 Securities Exchange Act of 1934 Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and Investment Company Act of 1940
  • Experience as an examiner attorney or industry specialist at a regulatory agency (SEC CFTC) a plus
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience preparing and negotiating prime brokerage trading lending and derivatives agreements
  • Deep knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements around financial markets crypto assets RWA digital assets smart contracts and digital wallets
  • Product counseling experience in blockchain crypto and securities products and ability to apply laws to new products and technologies
  • J.D. and membership in at least one state bar
  • Excellent written oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to own organize prioritize and manage projects effectively
