We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.
Join the Emmy-winning Google Fonts team and lead the technology powering 1.4 trillion monthly requests. Your work will shape Material Design typography, directly impacting all of Google’s 1 Billion+ Daily Active User (DAU) products, 50% of the desktop web, and 45% of the mobile web.
As Product Manager, you will support typography for the AI era—uniting expert design with AI-driven products like Gemini and Workspace. You will guide the evolution of 1,900+ fonts and 4,500+ icons, oversee migrations to Rust, and teach foundational AI models professional typographic rules. Owning a $3.8M+ Operational Expenditure (OpEx) portfolio, you will partner with executives to prove how expressive typography accelerates product Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.US: $163000 - $237000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

- Lead cross-functional partners with deep type-design expertise to build an AI-ready infrastructure and modern brand fonts that scale across Google's ecosystem.
- Drive the overarching product strategy to build typographic intelligence into foundational AI programs like Gemini, enabling designers and developers to create cohesive, desirable products.
- Align roadmaps and land advanced typographic innovations with major internal partners utilizing Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) data to optimize customer strategies.
- Partner with Material Design to drive adoption of Google Sans Flex and Google Symbols, while defining a data-driven 2027 internationalization roadmap to expand language support.
- Modernize the open-source text stack by migrating from legacy C++ to memory-safe Rust, pioneering Incremental Font Transfer (IFT) web standards, and delivering automated evaluations for AI-generated content.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in technical product management or a similar role leading developer-facing or designer-facing platform infrastructure.
- 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc.).
- Experience with the AI/ML product development life-cycle.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in a technology or business related field.
- 2 years of experience in software development or engineering.
- 2 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, sales finance, and other stakeholders.
- Experience in typography, design systems, visual identity branding, or digital asset delivery protocols.
