Project Biomedical Engineer
The Project Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, integration, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of all biomedical and medical equipment systems within the Ibom International Hospital Project. The role serves as the critical link between the Clinical Project Director, OEMs, consultants, procurement teams, contractors, and project management to ensure that all medical equipment is correctly specified, procured, delivered, installed, commissioned, and integrated into the hospital infrastructure and operational workflows.

The Project Biomedical Engineer will ensure that all biomedical systems comply with international healthcare standards, project specifications, regulatory requirements, and operational readiness objectives.

1. Medical Equipment Planning and Coordination<\/b>

\u2022 Support development and maintenance of the Medical Equipment Master Plan.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\u2022 Review and validate equipment schedules, room data sheets, and clinical briefs.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\u2022 Coordinate equipment requirements with end users, consultants, and clinical stakeholders.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\u2022 Ensure all equipment specifications align with approved room requirements and operational needs.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\u2022 Assist in equipment standardization and value engineering initiatives where appropriate.
<\/div>

2. Design Review and Infrastructure Integration<\/b>
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to ensure compatibility with \nbiomedical equipment requirements.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Verify infrastructure readiness including: Medical gas systems, Electrical power \nrequirements, UPS systems, HVAC requirements, Radiation protection requirements, \nData and communication systems, Structural supports and floor loading requirements.

\n\u2022 Coordinate equipment interface requirements with design consultants and \ncontractors.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Identify and resolve equipment\-related design conflicts and constructability issues.
<\/div>

\n3. Procurement and Technical Evaluation<\/b>
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Support preparation and review of technical specifications for procurement activities.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Participate in technical evaluations of vendor submissions and equipment proposals.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Review compliance of proposed equipment against project specifications.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Assist procurement teams during OEM negotiations and technical clarifications.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Support factory acceptance reviews where required.

\n4. Vendor and OEM Management <\/b>
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Coordinate directly with OEMs and equipment suppliers including: Siemens, GE \nHealthcare, Philips, Mindray and other specialist healthcare vendors. \n\u2022 Monitor manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning schedules.

<\/div>
\n\u2022 Ensure OEM compliance with project requirements and delivery milestones.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Coordinate vendor site visits and installation activities.
<\/div>

\n5. Equipment Delivery, Installation and Commissioning<\/b>

\n\u2022 Monitor equipment logistics, delivery schedules, and site readiness.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Verify delivered equipment against approved specifications and procurement \ndocuments.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Coordinate installation activities with contractors and OEM representatives.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Witness testing, calibration, commissioning, and validation activities.
<\/div>
<\/div>
\n\u2022 Ensure all installations are completed in accordance with manufacturer \nrecommendations and international standards.
<\/div>

\u2022 Coordinate snagging and defect rectification activities.

\n6. Clinical Commissioning and Operational Readiness<\/b>

\n\u2022 Support development and execution of commissioning plans.

\n\u2022 Participate in room\-by\-room readiness assessments.

\n\u2022 Coordinate functional testing of biomedical equipment systems.

\n\u2022 Support user acceptance testing and clinical validation activities.

\n8. Documentation and Asset Management<\/b>

\n\u2022 Maintain comprehensive biomedical equipment registers.

\n\u2022 Ensure accurate documentation including: Technical specifications, Equipment \nschedules, Test certificates, Commissioning reports, Calibration certificates, Warranty \ndocuments, Service agreements.

\n\u2022 Ensure all equipment records are complete and audit\-ready.

Requirements<\/h3>\u2022 Bachelor's Degree in: Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering (with Biomedical specialization), Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline.
<\/div>\u2022 Professional registration with COREN or relevant professional bodies is an advantage.
<\/div>\u2022 Biomedical equipment certifications and OEM training certifications are desirable.
<\/div>\u2022 Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in: Biomedical engineering, Hospital projects,
<\/div>medical equipment planning, Equipment installation and commissioning.
<\/div>\u2022 Experience working on tertiary hospitals, healthcare facilities, or major healthcare
<\/div>infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
<\/div>\u2022 Experience with advanced healthcare systems including: Imaging equipment, Radiotherapy systems, Operating theaters.
