Project Director – Marine Infrastructure Projects (Quay walls - Jetties - Breakwaters) - UAE
We are looking for a Project Director to lead and oversee large-scale marine and complex civil infrastructure projects across international locations. This is a high-impact leadership role; you will not be limited to a single project and must be prepared for deployment across different regions based on business needs.
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of projects — from execution planning and resource coordination to delivery and final completion. You ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with strict quality standards and contractual requirements.
As a senior leader, you will manage multidisciplinary teams and oversee all project-related functions, ensuring alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and stakeholder management while maintaining full accountability for P&L and financial results.
Your Contribution
Strategic Leadership: Lead the execution of large marine/civil projects (>$300m) or a portfolio of multiple projects via local deputies.
Financial Accountability: Take full ownership of project performance, including P&L, budget control, and cost monitoring.
Team Development: Establish organizational charts, supervise project managers, and provide active coaching and mentoring.
Operational Excellence: Define project processes, coordinate activities across different trades/departments, and ensure the timely availability of working documents.
Commercial & Legal: Validate contractual options (technical/financial/legal), manage subcontracting and procurement, and negotiate with contractors and suppliers.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, authorities, and third parties to ensure smooth project delivery.
HSE & Quality: Enforce world-class Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and Quality Assurance/Control procedures.
Risk & Strategy: Identify project risks early, develop alternative solutions, and implement pragmatic mitigation strategies.
Your Profile
Diverse Project Portfolio: Proven experience leading large-scale projects specifically including LNG jetties, breakwaters, and quay walls.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of marine construction techniques, plant/fleet management, and high-level project execution methodologies.
Contract Mastery: Advanced understanding of contract management (FIDIC or similar) and international project governance.
Leadership Style: An experienced team manager who seeks consensus, possesses excellent listening skills, and demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit.
Negotiation Power: High-level negotiation skills within complex, multi-stakeholder, and international environments.
Communication: Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional European language (French or Dutch) is a significant asset.
Mobility: High degree of flexibility and a willingness to relocate globally as required by business needs.
What the Client Offers
You will join an international environment delivering some of the world’s most technically complex marine and civil infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to take full autonomy over project delivery while managing multidisciplinary teams on high-impact developments.
In addition to a competitive executive salary package, you will benefit from significant international exposure, high-level leadership responsibilities, and the chance to leave a legacy through iconic global landmarks.
