We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our team of Meat – Primary in Lichtenvoorde. At Meat – Primary, we operate at the very beginning of the food processing chain—where innovation meets high-throughput production. Our department focuses on developing and improving the first stage of meat processing, driving advances in automation, yield optimization, and sustainable processing. Working in a compact, hands-on innovation environment, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering and operations to turn ideas into real-world industrial solutions that make an immediate impact on performance, quality, and efficiency.
🔍 About the Role
As a Project Engineer, you play a key role in bringing innovation to life on the processing floor. You will lead and support projects that enhance production lines—from equipment upgrades to automation and process improvements. Acting as the link between innovation, engineering, and operations, you ensure that new concepts are translated into robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions within a dynamic production environment.
🧠 What You’ll Do
As a Project Engineer within Meat – Primary, you are at the center of turning innovative concepts into practical, high-performing production solutions. Your role combines technical depth with cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that every project is translated into clear, accurate, and executable engineering deliverables.
In your daily work, you will:
- Develop detailed engineering layouts and documentation based on proposal requirements and customer needs
- Prepare complete engineering packages, including layouts, specifications, and technical documentation
- Review BOMs and system configurations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project scope
- Translate proposal concepts into final engineering requirements, identifying gaps or missing details
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Innovation, and Project Management to confirm feasibility and resolve technical challenges
- Evaluate input from third-party suppliers and ensure it fits within the overall solution
- Review production drawings and configurations before release, ensuring quality and correctness
- Support project planning by contributing to effort estimations and engineering timelines
- Communicate progress through clear updates and summaries, ensuring alignment across stakeholders

- Have a technical degree in relevant field or Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably in mechanical engineering.
- Have knowledge of Layout engineering applications.
- Have at least two years of experience in a similar role
- Possess strong Dutch and English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excel in working within multicultural and multidisciplinary organizations.
- Be detail-oriented, structured, analytical, and quality-focused.
- Take a proactive approach to improving system solutions and work processes.
- Have strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with customers and co-workers.
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
