Project Manager (Contracts)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the commercial, contractual, and project execution aspects of maritime and offshore projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project delivery from contract award through completion, ensuring contractual compliance, commercial performance, stakeholder management, and successful execution within budget and schedule.
The role requires a strong understanding of maritime operations, shipbuilding, marine engineering, offshore projects, and contract management, with the ability to navigate complex commercial agreements while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead and manage maritime and offshore projects from award to completion.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Coordinate with technical, operations, procurement, finance, and engineering teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize commercial and operational exposure.
- Provide regular project updates and performance reports to management and clients.
Commercial Management
- Take ownership of project profitability, revenue recognition, cost control, and margin improvement.
- Review and negotiate commercial terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, invoicing, variation orders, and cash flow.
- Evaluate commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead commercial discussions with customers to maximize project value and maintain long-term relationships.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and project performance tracking.
Contracts Management
- Review, negotiate, interpret, and administer client contracts, subcontract agreements, and service agreements.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, deliverables, warranties, and service level requirements.
- Manage contract amendments, change orders, claims, extensions of time, and dispute resolution processes.
- Work closely with legal and management teams on contractual matters and risk assessments.
- Maintain proper documentation and records of all contractual correspondence and project-related communications.
- Identify and mitigate contractual risks before and during project execution.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, operators, shipyards, offshore contractors, classification societies, and key stakeholders.
- Facilitate project meetings, progress reviews, and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure customer satisfaction while protecting the company's commercial interests.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Support the development of project management standards, processes, and best practices.
- Mentor junior project engineers and project coordinators where applicable.
Requirements
- Any relevant academics or with right number of relevant working experience.
- Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) will be added advantageous
- Proven experience managing commercial and contractual aspects of complex projects.
- Strong understanding of maritime contracts, EPC contracts, service agreements, charter agreements, and project execution frameworks.
- Experience working with shipowners, shipyards, offshore contractors, marine service providers, or marine equipment manufacturers.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and achieving commercial objectives.
- Strong contract negotiation and contract administration capabilities.
