Project Manager(Steelworks)
Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Project Manager (Steelworks) to secure new steel projects, overseeing cost planning and tender submissions and managing overall project execution.
This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise in structural steelworks and proven project management capability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Project Acquisition
· Lead efforts in lobbying and securing steelworks projects from developers, consultants, main contractors and government agencies.
· Identify new market opportunities and expand the company’s steelworks portfolio.
2. Pre-Tender & Cost Management
· Oversee pre-tender cost quantification and estimation for steelworks projects.
· Review technical drawings, specifications and tender documents.
· Lead tender clarifications, negotiations and contract discussions.
· Approve final tender submissions prior to management sign-off.
3. Project Management & Execution
· Oversee end-to-end project management from award to completion.
· Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with specifications.
· Supervise project managers, engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
· Monitor fabrication, delivery, and installation schedules.
· Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and statutory requirements
4. Manpower & Resource Control
· Plan and control manpower allocation across multiple projects.
· Optimized employment of site supervisors, welders, fabricators and subcontractors.
5. Financial & Operational Control
· Review progress claims and variation orders.
· Approve subcontractor payments and cost reports.
· Provide regular management reports on project and financial performance.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years of project management experience in steelworks projects (structural steel, fabrication, erection).
· Strong experience in cost estimation and tender management.
· Proven track record in securing and delivering steel projects.
· Sound understanding of construction contracts and project risk management.
· Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
· Familiar with local building regulations and safety standards.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
