Project Manager (VMWare to Redhat migration)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Technical Project Manager to lead our critical infrastructure modernization initiative. You will manage the end-to-end migration of virtualized workloads from legacy VMware (vSphere / vCenter) environments to Red Hat Open Shift/OpenStack. You will oversee cross-functional execution, minimize business disruption, and ensure seamless delivery,

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of virtualization migration waves from VMware to Red Hat environments.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, runbooks, and migration schedules, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Manage project risks, dependencies, and constraints, implementing mitigation strategies to prevent downtime of critical business applications.

Technical Coordination

  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture, security, and application teams to map dependencies, validate configurations, and ensure seamless integration.
  • Coordinate the use of tools like the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible) to facilitate smooth "warm" and cold migrations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years of Technical Project Management experience with at least 2–3 years specifically focused on large-scale VMware-to-Red Hat (OpenShift, RHEL, or OpenStack) migrations.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong working knowledge of VMware platforms (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and Red Hat ecosystems (KubeVirt, OpenShift Virtualization).
  • Project Methodologies: Proven track record with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid frameworks. PMP, PRINCE2, or CSM certifications are highly preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate complex technical blockers into clear business impacts.
