Property Treaty Underwriter
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Underwrite a portfolio of proportional and excess of loss reinsurance, utilizing a variety of both experience and exposure based analytical techniques as well as qualitative analysis.
- Negotiate on treaty renewals including the structuring and quoting of deals.
- Effectively communicate and build relationships with reinsurance intermediaries and cedents.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, industry events, and cedent meetings.
- Work closely with actuarial, finance, operations, and other business partners to build portfolio metrics and perform ad-hoc analyses.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of relevant treaty reinsurance experience obtained at a leading carrier or intermediary.
- Existing strong relationships in US and UK markets, with proven ability to grow a network of broker and client relationships across diverse lines of business.
- Self-starting entrepreneurial attitude
- Background in Property reinsurance
- Comprehensive understanding of modelling principles for both pricing and exposure management, with hands-on experience working with cat models and exposure rating tools.
- Experience with actuarial pricing techniques (burn costing, curve fitting, triangle development etc.)
- Strong analytical, oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
